Rising Damp: Services

What Is Rising Damp?

Rising damp is when groundwater rises up into the fabric of the property.

Ground water also contains salts that travel up through the bricks and cause white marks to form on the internal wall.

This can only affect the ground floor of the property.

How Can I Tell If My House Has Rising Damp?

Common signs of rising damp are;
- Peeling paint or wallpaper
- Bubbling or crumbling plaster
- "Tide marks" at the bottom of your walls
- White salt marks on walls
- Black mould
- Decayed skirting boards.

What Can Derbyshire Damp Services Do To Help?

For rising damp, the most common treatment is a damp proof injection.

This involves drilling holes into the base of the property and injecting a BBA approved damp proof cream into the mortar joint which is absorbed and creates a water repellent barrier as it crystallises.

We will also usually combine this with removing the affected plaster and treating the walls with a salt neutraliser, then re-plastering.
